Cruising in Kohala and looking for the best restaurants near Hilton Waikoloa Village to have a delicious meal? Look no further! The following restaurants are in no particular order.

The Fish and the Hog is located near the heart of Waimea, The Fish and The Hog is a southern comfort food restaurant with an Old Hawaii charm.

Known for their delicious Texas style barbeque and “fresh from the sea” dishes, this simple yet well executed menu will satisfy any craving.

Come relax and enjoy their salty Cadillac Margarita or sweet Liliko`i Mule.

Whether you order mouthwatering BBQ Nachos, juicy Smokehouse Burger, or savory Mac and Cheese, be sure to save room for dessert! Their assortment of decadent homemade cakes and pies pairs perfectly with their “Huli Sue’s” 100% Kona Coffee.

Outstanding customer service, delicious and large portions, and a well priced menu have made Fish and Hog one of the most popular restaurants on the Big Island.

Binchotan Bar and GrillThis modern Japanese Bar and Grill serves high-end food that is simply delicious.

The intimate, romantic setting allows for you to escape reality and try something different and new! We recommend you try the hot rock Wagyu beef appetizer, and sizzle the thinly sliced tender beef on a large black stone. Or order the juicy pork Gyoza dumplings that are packed with flavor and a surprisingly spicy dipping sauce.

For the main course, we highly encourage you to try the robatayaki grilled options.

Robatayaki literally translates to “fireside cooking” and is a traditional style of coal grilling that originated in Hokkaido Japan. You can order food choices for the grill a la carte, or specific options such as a land or seafood platters. These are sharable options and comfortably feed two adults. The Robatayaki (robata) grill comes with perfectly cooked fluffy white rice, and a variety of seasonings and sauces to explore and enjoy with the grilled meat and vegetables.

The food comes out already grilled on the robata, and stays heated so you can sit back and enjoy mixing and matching seasonings and sauces until your heart is fulfilled.

For a go-to staple that will not disappoint, we recommend the Pork Belly Kimchi Fried Rice. This is our favorite dish, and one of their most popular dishes at Binchotan.

The cocktails at Binchotan are outstanding, and are one of the reasons why we dine here.

Copper BarOur favorite menu items include the sushi which is some of the best on the island, the flatbreads, and the stir fry noodle bowl.

The sushi is well worth the price, with the local fresh caught fish and island grown ingredients making the rolls seemingly melt in your mouth. The Hamakua mushroom flatbread is divine! Each bite is filled with a rich creamy three cheese garlic white sauce, truffle sea salt and earthy mushrooms make this flatbread a must order every visit.

The flatbreads are so good, that we often will squeeze into the bar if the restaurant is busy just to order one with a beverage.

Another one of our favorites is the stir fry noodle bowl consisting of yakisoba sun noodles, delicious locally grown bok choy, green beans, shiitake mushrooms, sweet onions, and a delicious mushroom sauce (we always add chicken).

All of the food on the menu at Copper Bar is thoughtfully prepared, and are all equally delicious options.

Merriman’sWhen you want to treat yourself or impress someone, you go to Merriman’s. An upscale restaurant with roots deeply embedded in Hawaii Island’s farming and ranching community.

Located near the foot of Pu`u Opelu (a prominent landmark in Waimea), this fine dining restaurant has partnered with well known Hawaii Farmers to offer patrons the very freshest and best that Hawaii Island has to offer. Opening their doors nearly 35 years ago, Merriman’s has been the choice restaurant for celebrations and memorable dining experiences.

While anything on their menu is delicious, their daily specials are generally our favorites and notably sell out quickly. Reservations are highly recommended.

Hawaiian Style Cafe– What a warm-hearted place with lots of aloha. Hawaiian Style is one of our staple breakfast and lunch spots in Hilo and Waimea.

Hawaiian Style Cafe has huge portions with ono style grindz. It is a very popular destination and a beloved local eatery. If there is a wait to be seated, stick it out as it never lasts too long.

Our favorite breakfast meal is the steak and eggs served with crispy hash browns. The 8 oz strip loin is tender and grilled to absolute perfection.

If this is your first time dining at Hawaiian Style you HAVE to try one of the Loco Moco plates.

Da Tita Mok has flavorful fried rice topped with juicy chicken cutlet, hamburger patty, spam, one fried egg and brown gravy. This meal is no joke, and could easily be split between two fully grown adults. Wash your meal down with a refreshing glass of passion-berry iced tea, free refills when dining-in.

The atmosphere, friendly staff, and home cooked meals will not only hit the spot, but keep you coming back time and time again.
