Located at the mesmerizing Kaunaʻoa Bay, commonly known as Mauna Kea Beach. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel was built by Laurence S. Rockefeller in 1965 after he took a swim off the beach’s dreamy shores. It became the first luxury resort on Hawaii Island, proving a timeless luxury experience. Come rest, relax and enjoy life. Soak up the sun in a comfy cabana or enjoy world-class golfing, tennis or the many ocean explorations at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

For the ultimate exclusive and luxurious experience we highly recommend the Tower Rooms, oceanfront suites, preferably located on the tower’s top floor. The elegant and tasteful room decor enhances the gorgeous sweeping views of the white sand crescent beach, Kohala Coastline and the towering mountain Hualālai in the distance. Wake up to the sound of the ocean gently rolling on the shore and unwind on your private balcony. Take in the views as you sip on a fresh brew of local grown coffee or a cocktail. The Tower Rooms also offer views of the resort’s world-class golf course, and views of the Kohala Mountain Range. For families or guests looking for connecting rooms with direct beach access, we highly recommend the Beachfront Wing. A prime location that will allow you to be the first in the ocean or the last one on the beach after a romantic evening stroll.

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel has wonderful options for dining, including two of our favorites, Copper Bar and Manta. Copper Bar has wonderful views, delicious food Copper Bar Food and exquisite drink options Copper Bar Drinks for all to enjoy! Experinece live Hula dancing, and feel transported back in time. Manta is great for brunch, or a nice romantic dinner. For both Copper Bar and Manta, we strongly encourage you to make reservations as the resort restaurants and bars can fill up quickly with both visitors and kamaʻāina.

Cool off in the resort-style pool located on the resort grounds which is a great alternative during large winter ocean swells. If you feel like taking an adventure/ hike you can enjoy the historic Ala kahakai trail that connects Mauna Kea Beach to  Hāpuna Beach and the Westin Hapuna Resort Westin Hapuna Resort .

If you want a memorable evening at the resort, one of our favorite free activities would be to watch the Manta Rays glide through the ocean under a moonlit sky. To attract these graceful giants, the hotel shines a spotlight into the ocean which draws thousands of tiny plankton. Sit from the comfort of the shoreline as you see these magnificent creatures barrel roll near the top of the surface. It is beyond magical. This is one of the most intimate and seemingly surreal activities you can do at any resort from the comfort of land.

For kamaʻāina rates, please call the hotel directly at 1-877-880-6524.
