The Rim

Live life on the edge and enjoy a delicious dining experience at The Rim! Sip on a glass of wine or try a cooling moonbow mule cocktail as you gaze into the mesmerizing Halema`uma`u Crater. Located on the perimeter of Kilauea Caldera in the historic Volcano House Hotel; built in 1877 to accommodate weary adventurers traveling to see the volcano. This restaurant will impress any visitor with its spectacular views and cuisine. Their robust menu includes some local favorites like the Stuffed Big Island Chicken, Seared Kona Kampachi, and Volcano House Pasta. Our personal favorite was the mouth-watering Hawaii Ranchers Ribeye and Mauka & Makai (Hawaiian translation “mountain and ocean”). The Mauka to Makai includes a Hawaiian Ranchers filet mignon, buttery lobster tail, and truffle herb fries. Leave room for any of their delicious desserts; especially their Big Chocolate Cake with a cup of hot Ka`u Coffee. Reservations are highly recommended; they often book weeks to months in advance. For you early birds, the restaurant also offers a delicious breakfast buffet and lunch.
